Nancy Jakubowski
Nancy Jakubowski, Clay Artist
As the daughter of an artist and art teacher, Nancy has been creatively engaged throughout her life. Since 2009, she has devoted much of her time to sculpting with clay and creating pottery. Much of her work focuses on wildlife. When she isn’t in her home studio, she is often spending time in nature observing wildlife and collecting interesting pieces of driftwood.
Nancy believes that observing wildlife can evoke strong emotions. They amuse, charm, fascinate and evoke our humanity. Using the many methods and techniques offered by clay, Nancy’s sculptures explore not only the graceful forms and compelling textures of wildlife, but also their endearing nature. She hopes to communicate and inspire love for these creatures through her renderings.
Nancy’s work has won awards and has juried into many shows in the DMV, including the Biennial Creative Crafts Council Exhibitions and the National Juried Show at the Delaplaine Arts Center as well as shows at the Strathmore Mansion, Glenview Mansion, The Falls Church Arts Gallery, The Popcorn Gallery at Glen Echo Park, The Artist’s Gallery, Anne Marie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center, and the Arts Barn. Aware of how fortunate she is to have the time and resources to pursue art, and committed to the concept of paying it forward, Nancy donates fifty percent of her proceeds to charities that fight hunger.
